Amritpal Singh, a wanted man, and his companion sought refuge in and near the Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar areas. Amritpal and Papalpreet were discovered by the police to have resided in three separate Deras in the Phagwara town, Nadlon village, and Bibi village.

Since the Punjab Police conducted a massive operation against him and members of his pro-Khalistan “Waris Punjab De” group on March 18, Amritpal Singh has vanished without a trace.
