Fund crunch delays RPF’s access to body-worn cameras at Ranchi Railway Station

Ranchi, June 1: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Ranchi Railway Station is yet to be equipped with body-worn cameras as there is a lack of funding to carry out any such initiative at the moment.

Prashant Yadav, Divisional Security Commissioner has informed that there are plans to get body-worn cameras for safety purposes but currently, there is a lack of funding which has put the initiative on hold.

“We had planned to equip our RPF with body-worn cameras but due to a lack of funds, it is on hold. It was supposed to be available by June this year but it has been postponed. We will be able to give a better picture in the next 15 days,” he said.

The divisional security commissioner added that they are also installing new baggage scanners in Ranchi as well as Hatia Railway Station and it will be installed in the next one to two months.

Informing about the status of the kennel which was supposed to be constructed at Hatia Railway Station, he said that the construction will not start now as we have entered monsoon. The work will start after 3-4 months.

Once the Kennel is made, they will be bringing in 2 new dogs to add up to the RPF squad at Ranchi Railway Station.
