New Delhi: Indian cricket head coach and former BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has once again come under threat, this time from a group identifying as “ISIS Kashmir”. According to police sources, Gambhir received two chilling emails on April 22, both bearing the message: “IKillU”.
The emails, sent in the afternoon and again in the evening, prompted Gambhir to approach the Rajinder Nagar Police Station on Wednesday. A formal complaint has been lodged and an FIR has been registered. The Delhi Police have launched an investigation, with DCP Central confirming that security measures for Gambhir and his family are being reviewed and tightened.
This isn’t the first time Gambhir has faced such threats. In November 2021, he received a similar message while serving as a Member of Parliament, raising concerns over his personal security back then as well.
Reacting to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, where 26 civilians — mostly tourists — were killed, Gambhir took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike.”
The incident in Pahalgam is being regarded as one of the most brutal terror attacks since Pulwama in 2019.
Gambhir has urged authorities to leave no stone unturned in identifying and neutralizing those behind the threat.
