Giridih: Mafia arrives to encircle disputed land, damages bike of village Mukhiya’s husband

Giridih, Aug 20: A land mafia along with dozens of its supporters reached Mahuar village of the Bengabad police station area today to encircle the disputed land. Armed with hockey sticks, bats and sharp weapons, youths arrived on bikes in support of the land mafia and got involved in construction on the disputed land. All were in a killing mood and were abusing loudly. Seeing this, the people of the nearby houses were quite scared.

On seeing the police who reached on the information, all the people left the construction work and slipped away.

However, as soon as the police left, the reconstruction work started there. In the meantime, a person from the other side claiming the land reached there and uprooted the asbestos from the temporary house being built.

Meanwhile, the husband of Mahuar Panchayat’s Mukhiya Mahendra Chaudhary, reached by bike. On seeing him, the mafia supporters became enraged and ran to beat the Mukhiya’s husband, accusing him of demanding extortion. Seeing the opportunity, the chief’s husband slipped away to save his life while the mafia supporters completely damaged his bike with a hockey stick.

Seeing the deteriorating atmosphere, some people informed the Bengabad police station about it. Station in-charge Shashi Singh reached Mahuar with personnel and chased away the illegal construction mafia and its supporters. Police caught some people and took them to the police station. The police seized the bike from which the mafia supporters had come. There is an atmosphere of tension in the village.
