Dhanbad, Feb 19: Giridih police have arrested a dreaded Maoist’s son and his accomplice for demanding a levy from a contractor in the name of the banned organization in the district.
Giridih Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Renu told media persons that arrested persons are Pankaj Ashok Yadav and Kamlesh Yadav of Jamui district of Bihar.
Both had demanded a levy from Chunnu Singh on January 11 for constructing the building of the sub-primary health center at Khatpok village under the Tisri police station of the district.
Besides demanding levy in the name of Maoists, Pankaj Yadav and Kamlesh Yadav had also beaten labourers working on the spot.
The SP informed that Pankaj Yadav is the son of the dreaded Maoist Darogi Yadav against whom several cases are registered in Sono police station and Chakai police station in Jamui district in Bihar. Pankaj Yadav is also accused of killing police informers Chatur Hembram and Arjun Hembram in Barjor village under Chakai police station.
“On the basis of the FIR lodged by contractor Chunnu Singh, a special team of the district police arrested Pankaj Yadav from Chilkakhar village under Charkapather police station of Jamui district and Kamlesh Yadav from Karitand village under Khaira police station,” said the SP.
The SP further said that Pankaj Yadav along with his accomplices used to demand levy from contractors engaged in the construction of building, bridge and other development works in the region.
