Dhanbad, May 25: A minor girl student allegedly committed suicide for scooty in Sindri basti under the Sindri police station of the district on Wednesday late evening.
Sindri police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Singh said that the girl was found hanging with a rope in her room at around 9 pm. The reason for the girl’s drastic step could not be known. The body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation is being done.
The shocked father of the girl, Birendra Mandal, said he did not know the reason why she committed suicide. However, family members’ sources said that the father had assured the girl to give scooty if she will bring better marks in inter examination.
The girl Vrishti Mandal had secured 74% marks and since then she had been mounting pressure on her father to implement his promise. Family members said she might have taken the drastic step rattled by the broken promise of her father.
However, family members said that she looked normal in the day and in the evening before committing suicide.
