Mumbai: Bollywood actor Govinda, 60, was rushed to a hospital early today after suffering a bullet injury to his leg due to a misfire from his licensed revolver. Hours later, Govinda released an audio message from the hospital, thanking his fans for their prayers and expressing gratitude to his doctors.

Govinda’s Audio Message to Fans

In the audio clip, Govinda, speaking in a raspy voice, reassured his fans that he was safe. “I was hit by a bullet, but it has been extracted. I thank the doctors and your prayers,” he said, attributing his recovery to the blessings of his fans, parents, and his guru.

Accident Details

The incident occurred at around 4:45 AM at Govinda’s Juhu residence while he was preparing to leave for the airport to board a flight to Kolkata. His manager, Shashi Sinha, explained that the actor was handling his licensed revolver when it slipped from his hand, causing it to fire accidentally. The bullet struck Govinda below the knee.

Govinda immediately informed his wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was in Kolkata, and his manager. Police were called to the scene and the actor was rushed to Criticare Hospital in Juhu, where his condition was reported to be stable. His daughter, Tina Ahuja, is by his side at the hospital.

No Police Complaint Filed

According to the Mumbai police, Govinda has not lodged any formal complaint regarding the incident. The actor’s manager emphasized that Govinda was fortunate to sustain only a leg injury and described the situation as non-serious.

“We were scheduled to catch a 6 AM flight to Kolkata for a show,” his manager said. “Govinda ji was about to leave his residence when the accident happened. By God’s grace, the injury was not more severe.”

Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, is en route to Mumbai after hearing the news of the accident.
