Dhanbad: Maha Shivratri was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dhanbad on Wednesday. Devotees thronged the city’s Shiva temples from early morning, and the flow of visitors continued throughout the day. In the evening, a grand Shiv Baraat was taken out from Baba Bhootnath Shiva Temple in Matkuria, featuring tableaux depicting the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, along with representations of ghosts, spirits, and sages.
The procession also included tableaux of famous temples such as Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kashi Vishwanath, Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar, and Kolkata, totaling 36 beautifully decorated displays that captivated the crowd.
The Shiv Baraat commenced from Matkuria Bhootnath Temple, toured the city, and returned to the temple. Members of the pooja committee warmly welcomed the procession, as chants of Bholenath ki Jai echoed in the atmosphere. A grand Bhandara (community feast) was also organized on this occasion.
Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha stated that Lord Shiva’s Baraat has brought blessings to the entire city. The event’s success was attributed to key organizers, including Nitin Bhatt and others.
