Ranchi: The three-day East Tech Symposium 2025 (Defence Expo) began with grandeur at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Ranchi’s Khelgaon on Thursday. The event was inaugurated by Governor Santosh Gangwar, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari and other dignitaries.
CDS Stresses Space And Cyber Warfare Preparedness
Addressing the gathering, CDS General Anil Chauhan underlined the importance of developing tools for space and cyber warfare to meet emerging global challenges. He said strategic selection of weapons and continuous review of research and development were crucial for modern combat readiness, emphasising the need to expand the defence manufacturing base and explore advanced technologies like artificial intelligence.
Jharkhand’s Potential In Defence Manufacturing
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said Jharkhand, endowed with uranium reserves and other resources, could play a key role in strengthening India’s strategic capabilities. He assured full cooperation with the central government to make the defence sector self-reliant, noting that the state was committed to fostering innovation and industry growth in this field.
First Defence Expo In Jharkhand
The East Tech Defence Expo, organised by the Indian Army’s Eastern Command, is being hosted in Jharkhand for the first time after successful editions in Kolkata (2022, 2024) and Guwahati (2023). The event, running from September 19 to 21, showcases cutting-edge technologies and the strength of India’s three armed forces, offering new opportunities for defence innovation and industrial collaboration across eastern India.
