New Delhi, Nov 10: The first list of 160 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections was made public by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday.
Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister, will run for office in the Ghatlodia district. Rivaba Jadeja, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, received a ticket and will run for office in the Jamnagar North district.Hardik Patel, a former Congress leader who switched to the BJP, will run for office in the Viramgam district. Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of the interior for Gujarat, will run for office in the Majura district.
The candidates’ identities were revealed during a joint press conference that was addressed by Union Ministers Mansukh Mandviya, Bhupender Yadav, and State BJP Chief CR Paatil.
Notably, the BJP held its Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Wednesday at its headquarters under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. National president JP Nadda, Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, the former chief minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa, and others arrived at the party headquarters for the meeting.
