Dhanbad, Aug 19: Firing and bomb explosion during a clash between two groups of Khatal over alleged eve-teasing on Thursday night rocked the area in Kendua under Kenduadih police station, around 12 km away from district headquarters.
Two persons namely Surendra Yadav and Sanjay Yadav were seriously injured in the incident and were admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) by the police. Fakira Yadav along with half a dozen people including women and children also received minor injuries.
The incident occurred around 9 pm on Thursday. A group of Khatal attacked the houses of another group. They fired shots and threw explosives beside brick batting at houses and beating the family members with lathi.
Kenduadih police station officer in-charge Surendra Kumar Singh told that the police force has been deployed in the Basti since last night and the investigation of the incident is being carried out to take legal action against guilty persons.
Victim Surendra Yadav has in this connection lodged FIR in Kenduadih police station against Nitish Yadav, Chandan Yadav, Manish Yadav, Birendra Yadav, Pravesh Yadav and others for attacking with lathi, brick batting on houses, firing and exploding bomb for murder intention.
The assaulters were also carrying country-made pistols and fired rounds and exploded three explosives on the spot. Surendra Yadav alleged that Nitish Yadav and his group attacked his family for protesting eve-teasing.
However, sources in the area said that the clash occurred over coal theft from the nearby closed Basudebpur open cast mines of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). The outsourcing company left the coal in the mines after completing their production target but despite CISF patrolling, the residents near the open cast mines use to steal coal at night. In course of coal theft last night, both the groups clashed.
