Guwahati, Sep 4: By acquiring the ISO 10002:2018 accreditation, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI) in Guwahati gained recognition on a global scale.
The recognition follows a thorough assessment of the airport’s Operational Management, Quality Management System and Airport Development Procedures.
In the field of Quality Management Systems, ISO 10002:2018 is a globally recognised certification, notably for airport operations, management and development.
The accomplishment of this certification highlights LGBI Airport’s persistent dedication to implementing industry best practices for managing airport quality, operational efficiency and developmental activities.
The Guwahati Airport took great delight in receiving this famous ISO certification, according to a spokesperson. They emphasized that it demonstrates their commitment to upholding an effective quality management system and abiding by best practices.
The spokesperson thanked the entire team for working together to obtain the ISO accreditation.
Guwahati foreign Airport connects travellers to 24 domestic and 2 foreign destinations, serving as a key entry point to Northeast India.
A rise of more than 4.8 lakh passengers were seen at the airport in August 2023 compared to the same month the year before.
Imphal, Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru are the top four domestic destinations from Guwahati. The airport also provides international service to Singapore and Paro.
Nearly 3,839 flight movements were handled by the airport in August 2023, an increase of 14% from August 2022. This expansion can be linked to the airport’s customer-focused strategy and a rise in air traffic after the pandemic.
The Guwahati Airport is confident that steady growth will continue over the upcoming winter schedule, which will start in October.
Given the increase in passenger traffic throughout the winter season, LGBI forecasts a significant increase at this time, which will represent the aviation industry’s ongoing recovery.
