New Delhi, Dec 2: The Indian women’s team for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against Australia was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday.

The first T20I between India and Australia will take place on December 9 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, and the second T20I will follow on December 11 at the same location. The third, fourth, and fifth Twenty20 Internationals, which will be played on December 14, 17, and 20, respectively, will be played at Brabourne Stadium.

Star batter Smriti Mandhana will serve as Harmanpreet Kaur’s deputy as she leads the 15-member team. Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh, two wicketkeepers for India, will play in the series.

The T20I series versus Australia will take place in Mumbai at the D.Y. Patil Stadium and CCI.

The usual suspects, like Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verman, and Jemimah Rodrigues, made the cut. Rajeshwari Gaikwad, a spinner, is also mentioned on the list. Pooja Vastrakar was not selected because she had been disqualified from the series due to an injury.

The five-match assignment will be crucial for both India and Australia in determining the best lineup for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, which is drawing near.

India’s squad for the T20I series against Australia: Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur, Meghna Singh, Anjali Sarvani, Devika Vaidya, S Meghana, Richa Ghosh (wicket-keeper) and Harleen Deol.
