Ranchi, May 24: As many as 120 units of blood were collected from Harmu Hospital on the occasion of Jharkhand Blood Donor Day. The camp was inaugurated by Bhaveshanand Ji Maharaj of Ram Krishna Mission Ranchi from Harmu Hospital and Research Center.

In Ranchi, it was organized at Harmu Hospital and Research Centre, RIMS and CCL Gandhinagar Hospital. In other districts, its facility was ensured in the blood bank of District Sadar Hospital.

Hundreds of people from the state enthusiastically participated in today’s blood donation camp. In most of the districts of Jharkhand, blood donors kept coming from 9 am to 5 pm.

Jharkhand Blood Donor Day is celebrated for the last 5 years under the aegis of the Medical Health Advisory Council. This time, giving it a comprehensive look, an attempt was made to reach all the districts.

The head of the event, Dr Suhas Tetarve, while donating his blood for the 65th time said that people do not donate blood due to a lack of awareness and misconceptions related to blood donation. The success of Jharkhand Blood Donor Day inspires us to work more strongly on this awareness.

Sumant Pushp, Technology Head and Awareness Campaign Convenor of Mumbai based Elder Care Company “AapkiLathi” said that the biggest shortage is of first-time donors.

“For this, we have reached 10 to 12 lakh people by running a digital campaign. In which the contribution of Instagram and other social influencers was significant,” Sumant added.

This event was organized under the supervision of RIMS Blood Bank Incharge Dr Sushma Kumari and a team of blood bank Dr Usha Saroj and Kavita.

On the occasion Dr V. K. Verma, President of the Medical Health Advisory Council, Secretary Dr Anal Sinha, Vice President MK Mishra and Jindal’s GM Colonel Samit Saha were present.

The management of CCL Gandhinagar Hospital was done under the supervision of Dr Ratnesh Jain and Dr Anita.

20 other doctors from different departments and institutes also participated. The cooperation of the health care staff of Harmu Hospital, Suman, Sunita, Asha, Sukanti, Umapati, Anju, Brajesh, Amad, and others was commendable.

Mangesh Jha, a social worker associated with Aapakali Sanstha, also played a role in the success of the day by making more and more people aware.

Notably, a tree will be planted in the name of every blood donor in this camp and blood donors will be provided with a free Health Insurance Card (HHRC) for one year from Harmu Hospital.
