New Delhi, Aug 31: The Hisar Police in Haryana today detained a man after receiving accusations from Sonali Phogat’s family that had stolen a laptop and a cell phone from the BJP leader’s home. The gadgets have been found, and the suspect is being questioned by the district police.
A Goa Police team has also arrived in the Hisar district to look into the issue. To gather information on the case, the crew first travelled to the Sadar police station and then went to Sonali Phogat’s farm.
The primary suspect in the murder case and allegedly Sonali Phogat’s assistant Sudhir Sangwan’s home in Gurugram will also be visited by the Goa police.
Days after receiving assurances to that effect from the governments of Goa and Haryana, the family is still pushing on the matter being turned over to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The case has resulted in the arrest of five people so far.
Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, two of the Haryana BJP leader’s allies who were detained on Thursday, have been sentenced to ten days in police prison.
The workers at the restaurant, the resort where Phogat was staying, the hospital where she was pronounced dead, and her driver are among the more than 25 people who have so far been questioned by the police.
