Dhanbad, Sept 19: A constable of Railway Protection Security Force (RPSF) 10th battalion Sandip Kumar posted in Dhanbad allegedly died of suicide by jumping from the roof of Hill Colony-based barrack under Sadar police station on Monday morning.
Sandip Kumar belonged to a village in Haryana and had been posted at Dhanbad for the last few months.
RPSF Assistant Commandant Abhay Kumar Singh, who reached the spot immediately, told media persons that Sandip was spotted lying on the ground near the barrack by a constable in the early morning (around 4 am) today. He was immediately taken to the Divisional Railway Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
“After the declaration of hospital doctors, the family of the deceased and Sadar police station were duly informed,” said Abhay Kumar Singh.
The body was sent to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) for postmortem.
RPSF assistant commandant said that Sandip Kumar looked normal on Sunday evening and took his dinner timely at night. From around 12.30 am to 1 am, he was seen talking with his family members. “At the wee hour of Monday, when a constable was going to his duty at around 4 am, he saw a man lying on the ground. He immediately informed the barrack,” he said.
On getting the information, senior officials of RPSF reached the hospital and took stock of the incident.
