Hazaribag, Nov.9: A team led by district mining officer Ajeet Kumar and mines inspector Sunil Kumar, on the instruction of Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay, launched a raid against the illegal sand business and seized 17 sand-laden tractors with help of Bara Bazar police.
All seized tractors are kept in Bada Bazar, Katkamdag and Ichak police stations.
In the last two days, 21 sand-laden tractors were seized from different areas of the town. The officials said that illegal transportation of sand will not be allowed.
The Nwatand sand ghat has been made functional by the district administration which has a capacity of 23,98,000 square feet. The officials added that the government has fixed Rs.750 as the cost of one tractor sand besides 5% GST. Without paper, those tractors carrying sand will be seized.
They also checked the stone crushers owned by Uday Mehta and Prakash Mehta of Ichak and said the lifting of sand in a legal way as well as its transportation will also bring revenue for the government.
