Hazaribag, June 8: An engineer working for Thriveni Sainik company, an outsourcing company of NTPC committed suicide last evening by hanging himself from the ceiling fan. The incident took place in Yashwant Nagar mohalla of town where he was living in a rented house. The engineer was identified as Kailash Chakravarty, a resident of Jharia in Dhanbad. Police are yet to find the reason behind the suicide.

But when at 12 noon today, when the body was brought from the mortuary for postmortem, it was stinking and the face also changed as it got swollen. The reason behind it was that the body was kept in a deep freezer which was not functioning. This deep freezer is in the mortuary situated at Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital.

Ranjan Choudhary, media in charge of Sadar MLA Manish Jaiswal said as the temperature of the district is around 40 degrees Celsius, the non-functioning of the dead body deep freezer is a matter of concern. As the engineer’s body was kept in this deep freezer only, it decomposed and started stinking. Even the face of the body also got swollen making it disfigured, he added.

Choudhary tweeted the matter to Hazaribag DC Nancy Sahay requesting its repair immediately. Hospital sources said the matter is in the knowledge of the concerned authority and it will get repaired at the earliest.
