Hazaribag: In a brazen daylight incident, two unidentified criminals opened fire inside a jewellery store in the heart of Hazaribag town on Sunday afternoon, causing widespread panic. The incident occurred barely 400 meters from the Sadar police station and just 100 meters from the residence of local MP Manish Jaiswal, raising serious questions about law and order in the area.

Seven rounds fired, panic at busy marketplace

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and fired at least seven rounds at the “Shree Jewellers” shop. The store was open to customers at the time, triggering chaos as people scrambled for safety. The assailants had their faces covered and waved firearms while entering the crowded market zone before indiscriminately firing and fleeing the scene.

Police initiate probe, recover spent bullets

Sadar police arrived promptly after receiving information and launched an investigation. They questioned the shop owner and nearby witnesses, and recovered bullet casings from the scene. The shop’s glass façade was shattered in the gunfire, but no injuries have been reported so far.

Security lapse near MP’s house sparks outrage

The proximity of the crime scene to MP Manish Jaiswal’s home—just 100 meters away—has alarmed residents and drawn criticism of the security setup in what is considered a high-security area. Locals expressed shock over how such an attack could occur in a densely populated commercial area in broad daylight.
