Hazaribag, Feb 15: Pintu Kumar Yadav, a resident of Koluwa Kudur village in Barkatha block and working in Puna was forced to marry his girlfriend, identified as 18-year-old Poonam Kumari after being caught by villagers on Valentine’s Day.
Villagers said that Pintu had come to meet Poonam on Monday night and duo was caught together in the village area. They were held hostage by villagers and discussion about punishing the duo began on Tuesday.
During the discussion, the villagers decided to get the duo married before arrival of Pintu’s parents in a village temple. After reaching and getting information about the marriage, Pintu’s parents have expressed anger and rejected the affair theory. Manju Devi, Pintu’s mother said that villagers called his son and married him forcefully with Poonam. She has filed a written complaint this regard with the Barhi police.
Pintu, who also echoed the same, has claimed that he had never met Poonam before. “Villagers trapped me and forced to marry the girl”, he added.
However, Dulmaha mukhiya Narayan Yadav, Malkoko mukhiya Vijay Kumar Yadav, Baleshwar Yadav, Ramu Mahto, Santosh Yadav, Ashok Ravidas and Dinesh Paswan have claimed that they caught the couple together, and after admitted the year long affair, the duo was married. “Duo are of same caste, so we think what happened is right”, added villagers.
