Hazaribag, Feb 17: Lohsigna police today arrested the mukhiya of Chandaul panchayat in Barkagaon Basudev Yadav in a case related to the escape of seven girls from the correctional home (Swadhar Griha) near Kallu Chowk in Hazaribag.
Notably, a total of seven girls escaped on November 21 last year with police finding three of them later and the rest are still missing.
One of the girls who escaped was having affair with the mukhiya’s son Karan Yadav. This resulted in a legal battle between the duo’s families with Karan recently coming out on bail.
With the girl’s family levelled charges against Karan and his father for the escape of the girl from Swadhar Griha, Lohsigna police were investigating the case to get some clues in this case.
Police recently found the mukhiya making calls on a girl’s mobile through Instagram. Even the girl had also called back and talked to him. This made the police arrest the mukhiya.
Sources said police also came to know that girls, after coming out from the correctional home, used a black SUV to escape. They said much more startling information came to them regarding this case and soon it will be shared with journalists.
After his arrest, the mukhiya denied having any link in the escape of the girls. I never talked to her and also had no role in this case, he added. My son is creating problems for me, he added.
Officer-in-charge of Lohsigna, Arvind Kumar Singh said they will soon come up with all facts related to this case.
