Hazaribag, March 17: For violating section 144 and blocking Jhanda chowk of the town on Tuesday, the district administration has booked nine named and 200 unnamed in their FIR lodged at Sadar police station. FIR was lodged on the complaint of sadar circle officer Rajesh Kumar.

The problem began when the district administration enacted Section 144 and prohibited the use of traditional weapons and DJ music during magla processions. But, on Tuesday, a sizable group of young people assembled at Jhanda Chowk, disobeying instructions, and blocked the chowk while yelling anti-administration chants. A select few akharas also participated in the procession.

On the complaint of CO, FIR was lodged for illegal assembly and blocking of chowk to shouting slogans against the administration. Police officials said despite orders of 144, it was intentionally violated. Those who are named in this FIR are Shashi Bhushan Kesri, Aman Kumar, Manjit Yadav, Manish Sharma, Kunal Yadav, Sonu Verma, Rajesh Gope, Umesh Gupta and Sonu Verma.

As news about this FIR came in public, one of the named accused Shashi Bhushan Kesri called a press conference criticising officers for this move.

“First, they have passed the wrong orders to disturb ramanavmi and now this FIR. Whatever charges leveled against us are wrong as we are demonstrating peacefully,” he added.
