VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribag, June 23: Resident of Rola village in Sadar block, Tapeshwar Sao and his four daughters never ever imagined that fate would be so cruel to them. Sao had one son Arun Kumar(15) and four daughters. With three daughters married earlier, the last one got married on June 21 amid sorrow. The reason was that the marriage was taking place in a temple and at the same time body of Arun, the only brother of the bride was kept in the house waiting for the last rites.
Arun was the one who died in a lightning case at Jagannath temple in Silwar of Hazaribag during Rathyatra on June 21. His sister was to get married on June 23 and all arrangements were done in this regard. But the death of Arun spoiled all their plans with village elders suggesting marrying the girl before the last last rites of Arun. Local priests were also contacted who also suggested the same.
The groom’s family in Bhurkunda of Ramgarh were informed and asked to come for the marriage in the village temple. On the night of June 21, when the body of Arun was brought into the house after the postmortem, the marriage of his sister was going on amid sorrow. During the marriage, the bride and her three elder sisters kept crying and local villagers and those from the groom’s family kept consoling them.
After the marriage, all returned home and then the last rites of Arun were performed. Tapeshwar said what happened is beyond his expectation. “It’s not possible for me and my family to overcome this tragedy,” he added with tears rolling down his cheeks. Tapeshwar said he is a daily wage labourer and was hoping better life in the coming years as his son was a good student. But all hopes went with him, he said.
