Ramgarh, March 26: A convocation parade of new constables, who completed their basic training, was held at BSF Training Centre and School Meru.
In the presence of Governor Ramesh Bais, who was the chief guest, 368 constables took the oath of service to the country by considering the tricolour as a witness.
The Governor praised the jawans by saying, “Today is a special day for the new constables after 44 weeks of rigorous training. I am sure that the constables will be at the forefront in meeting their responsibilities and challenges of the job.”
“The constables are residents of different provinces of India, but all have been filled with the spirit of security of the nation,” the Governor added.
He said that during the training, it is difficult to control oneself and maintain one’s spirits in difficult moments. The Governor also congratulated the parents of the defenders and said that they dedicated their sons to the service of the nation.
Giving information about the 44 weeks of training, IG Parvinder Singh Bains said that the jawans have been trained in physical fitness, weapon handling, map study, human rights as well as geographical knowledge of the field. Now they will be posted on different borders of the country.
The Governor honoured the best performing soldiers during training by giving them mementoes.
Rintu Das and Amar Jyoti Kumar in Overall First, Akshay Nath KC and Mrinal Kalita in Best in Drill, Sandeep Kumar and Akhil UK in Best Firer, Sunil Singh Gaur and Anand P Babu in Best in Endurance.
The Governor also visited the exhibition of different types of weapons in the BSF premises. Weapons of good firepower were kept in the exhibition. These included the weapons of the Pakistani army involved in the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
Hazaribagh DC Nancy Sahay, Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe, Vice-Chancellor Mukul Narayan Dev, Commandant Mukund Kumar Jha and other people were present in the convocation ceremony.
