Hazaribagh: Adani Foundation celebrates World Environment Day at Harli High School

50 saplings planted in the campus, 500 saplings distributed among villagers

Barkagaon, June 6: Adani Foundation organised a Plantation Drive on the occasion of World Environment Day at State Sustainable High School Harli located in Barkagaon block of Hazaribagh district.

During the program, 50 saplings of Gulmohar and Ashok were planted, and approximately 500 saplings of mango, jackfruit and guava were distributed among the villagers.

The Chief Guest of the event, Ghanshyam Sahu, Block Education Extension Officer appreciated the effort and intention of the Adani Foundation. He said that now it is each student’s responsibility to take care of saplings and make this campaign successful.

He appealed to every child to plant and take care of at least 5 saplings in their lifetime. He told that he has planted more than 500 teak trees in his life so far. “Trees and plants are our true friends, so they should be protected,” he said.

In the program, the headmaster of the school, Zafarul Islam, said that the voice of this campaign started by the Adani Foundation will go far. He also added that all of us should make such efforts that the shadow of the trees planted by us lasts till the age of age.

The headmaster expressed concern over the continuous damage to trees and plants by the common people and said that today the rain has reduced due to less forest. The heat has increased and air pollution has also increased widely. He appealed to the children to plant saplings and save them.

To raise awareness, quiz competitions, slogan writing competitions and painting competitions were also organized wherein students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Prizes were also distributed among the winners of these competitions.
