Ramgarh, June 16: Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay, Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe, Trainee IPS Rishabh Garg and Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Vidyabhushan Kumar released a Cyber security awareness booklet during the Cyber Safety and National Security Program under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Various information related to cybercrime was shared with the media, police officers and common citizens present on this occasion.
SP Chothe said, “These programs are being organized to spread awareness and take protective steps on the matter related to cybercrime to the general public.”
In this sequence, an awareness chariot was also flagged off from the lake complex along with organizing various programs like street plays, one-day workshop, press talks and many programs related to preventive measures and prevention of increasing cybercrime were organized.
The DC on the occasion said, “Cyber security awareness is an important topic, hence it is necessary to be careful while using all digital mediums. Things have become easier in the digital age but the dangers have also increased due to lack of information.”
She said that more cases related to cybercrime are seen happening with women and children as people of criminal tendency target them. So no one should share personal details by phone under any circumstances, as well as inspire others to do the same.
DSP Arif Ikram explained in detail the cases related to cybercrime, their protective measures and information and their various components.
A few types of cybercrimes are:
- Hacking: In this type of cybercrime, hackers enter a restricted area and scan another person’s data and sensitive information, without that person’s permission, the restricted area is someone’s personal computer (PC), mobile or any online bank account.
- Cyber theft: In this type of cybercrime, the hacker violates copyright law. This includes identity theft, password theft, information theft, internet time theft, etc.
- Cyberstalking: This cybercrime is more commonly seen on social media sites. In this, stalkers harass a person by repeatedly sending dirty messages or emails. They often make victims of small children and people who do not have much knowledge of the internet.
- Identity Theft: In this, hackers target people who use online financial transactions and banking services like Google Pay, Phone Pe, and Paytm. They take out all the money of a person by getting personal data like account number, debit card details, internet banking details etc.
- Malicious Software: Hackers have developed a variety of harmful software that allows them to not only take data from any computer or mobile device linked to the internet but also to delete and destroy it. Malware, spyware, virus, and ransomware are just some of the forms of software that hackers deliver to other computers via a link, pop-up message, or email that entices the recipient to click on the link. If you click on the link, the hackers will gain control of your computer or phone.
