Ramgarh, July 18: Two smugglers were caught with 70 kg Doda in Charhi. SDPO Vishnugarh Anuj Oraon gave the information in the press conference held at Charhi police station.
To avoid police action, Doda was being brought by the smugglers in a jackfruit sack.
The SDPO said, “Based on secret information Charhi police, caught a marshal vehicle and two people were arrested with Doda (narcotic) stuffed in four and a half sacks.”
The station in-charge had received a tip-off that a marshal vehicle was going to Chauparan with a consignment of Doda from Ranchi. For verification of the information and vehicle checking, the SDPO along with the police force stopped the marshal and the vehicle was seized on NH 33 in the Charhi Valley.
About 70.3 kg of Doda was recovered in four big sacks inside the vehicle. Driver Lita Munda and cleaner Panna Munda, both residents of Sakin Karoda police station, Hakadua in Khunti district, were arrested.
Charhi station in-charge Devendra Kumar said that smugglers are so clever that they keep ripe jackfruits along with such intoxicants so that in the course of the investigation, no such substance is found.
Two days ago, 56 kg of ganja and three persons were arrested at Naya Bus Stand.
Doda is bought from different villages of the Khunti district and sent to Bihar via Barhi-Chouparan these days. Apart from the SDPO, Inspector Mahendra Singh, SHO Devendra Kumar, SI Ranjan Singh, Mangra Oraon, Niranjan Prakash etc. were present at the press conference.
