Hazaribagh: Villagers beat up planning officer, her husband on suspicion of being child lifters

Ramgarh, Sept 21: Hazaribagh planning officer Jyotsna Das and her husband Vijay Kumar Das were beaten up by villagers as they were accused of being child lifters. The incident took place in front of the NTPC office of Thriveni Sainik Mining located in Langatu village of Barkagaon police station area on Tuesday.

As per the information, the planning officer parked her car and was waiting for the arrival of Chatra district planning officer Manu Kumar. In the meantime, some villagers claimed that the couple had kidnapped a child and the furious villagers started to beat up the couple .

In this regard, Planning Officer Jyotsna Das said that if the Circle Officer of Barkagaon administration Jitendra Kumar Pandey, Police Sub-Divisional Officer Amit Kumar Singh, Police Station In-charge Vinod Kumar Tirkey had not reached with their team force on time, then perhaps their lives would not have been saved.

On the other hand,  Das, while narrating the whole incident, said that they reached Thriveni for office work. She was waiting outside the office when a crowd came and attacked them and also damaged their car.

Langatu resident Ratan Bhaiya’s wife Sushma Kumari alleged that her one-year-old child was being snatched from the lap by the couple. In this regard, the station in-charge Vinod Kumar Tirkey said that the application has been received by the victim. Action will be taken at any cost by identifying the people.

Police station in-charge Tirkey further said that he has repeatedly appealed to avoid any kind of rumor and if there is any such thing, immediately inform the administration. Under no circumstances should an attempt be made to take the law into their own hands.

On behalf of the administration, the planning officer and her injured husband were treated in Barkagaon.
