Ranchi, Aug.10: A division bench of Jharkhand High Court comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujeet Narayan Prasad today directed to maintain status quo in the matter of appointment done on the basis of sixth JPSC examinations.
The order came after a section of youths appointed on the basis of the sixth JPSC results knocked the door of the division bench. They took the legal step when a bench of the single judge of the high court termed their appointment illegal saying that the merit list on the basis of which they were selected for administrative services was not prepared in accordance with rules.
The single-judge bench had passed the order observing that the recruitment body added marks of qualifying papers English and Hindi while preparing the merit list which was wrong. Youths selected on the basis of the merit list challenged the order saying there was nothing wrong in preparing the merit list.
The Court while directing to maintain status-quo also directed the make petitioners, who had knocked the door of single bench and had filed a caveat in the court, party in the case and ordered to put the case for hearing after six weeks.
Earlier, Advocate General Rajeev Ranjan, submitted before the court that the state had already supported the merit list prepared by the JPSC but despite that the order was passed and now the state government is intent on implementing the order.
On which the court said that the matter is of serious nature as jobs of many youths are at stake thus in the interest of justice the matter should be heard properly.
The list of petitioners included Shishir Tigga and others. A battery of lawyers including Indrajit Sinha and Sumit Garodia besides others argued on behalf of the candidates selected through the 6th JPSC examination and are in service.
JPSC till date has not challenged the single judge bench order.
