Bench Fixes Next Hearing, Sets Eight-Week Deadline
A bench of Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad heard the matter. The next hearing is scheduled for January 5, 2028, as stated in the source. Advocate Vincent Rohit Markey appeared for the petitioner.
Girl Went Missing in July 2025, Skeleton Recovered After Court Intervention
The girl disappeared in July 2025. Her family repeatedly approached the police but found no trace of her, after which her mother filed a writ petition in the High Court. Following the court’s intervention, police recovered the skeleton from a forest at the accused’s instance. Police allege her former boyfriend killed her. The court had also ordered a comparison of the remains with her parents’ DNA.
28 Police Personnel Face Action
The court had earlier been told that the investigation found prima facie evidence of dereliction of duty by all 28 policemen posted at Pindrajora police station, who were suspended on the order of the Bokaro Superintendent of Police. The High Court had questioned what the district SP and other senior officers were doing while the girl was not being searched for and her parents’ complaint went unheeded, and said responsibility must also be fixed for the lack of effective monitoring to arrest the accused quickly. On October 7, 2026, the Director General of Police had directed the Inspector General of Police (Special Branch) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged negligence of senior police officers.
