New Delhi, Dec 26: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will meet virtually with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Monday. The Covid -19 situation and preparation meeting will be held at 4 pm via video conference, according to information from the IMA.
The government has been attempting to stop the spread of Covid-19, according to Mandaviya, who advised people to wear masks and adopt Covid-appropriate behaviour on Saturday.
“We are working on alert mode to control the spread of Covid -19 and are conducting environmental, sewage and human surveillance. Virus RNA was found in the sewage samples in Delhi and Mumbai,” Mandaviya had said.
He also advised wearing masks, staying away from busy areas, and acting in a manner that was Covid-appropriate.
In response to the Covid panic caused by a rise in infections in various nations, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare agreed on Saturday to organise simulated drills at all medical facilities throughout the nation on December 27.
This is to guarantee preparation in the event of an increase in Covid cases in India, as well as the availability of oxygen support and ICU beds, among other preparedness measures. The Ministry claims that the exercise’s goal is to make sure that these medical facilities are prepared to manage Covid operationally.
The main emphasis, according to the description of the criteria during the mock drills, will be on the bed capacity at the medical institutions, including isolation, oxygen-supported, and ICU beds.
A high-level meeting to assess the Covid -19 situation in the nation was also presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (December 22). He warned against complacency and emphasised the importance of testing and strengthening the surveillance measures, particularly at international airports.
In light of the impending holiday season, he underlined the importance of always acting in a manner that is Covid-appropriate, which includes avoiding crowded public spaces when wearing masks.
NITI Aayog CEO Parameswaran Iyer, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya were among those present at the meeting.
