Jamshedpur, April 21: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre extended its heat wave condition over Jharkhand on Friday too as several places were experiencing extreme heat with as many as 15 districts notching over 40 degrees Celsius.
Godda in northeast Jharkhand recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.7°C while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.1°C was recorded at Ramgarh (KVK).
The trough or wind discontinuity from Madhya Maharashtra to south Tamil Nadu was today running from Telangana to south Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Weathermen today said that heat wave condition was likely to prevail at isolated places over north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre also issued an alert for thunderstorms at isolated places over the state later this afternoon.
Thunderstorm accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) was also likely at isolated places over the state on Saturday ( April 22 ) and Sunday ( April 23 ).
Meteorological statistics suggested that Ranchi and its adjoining places recorded 40 degree Celsius during the past 24 hours while Jamshedpur recorded the season’s highest maximum temperature of 44.1 degrees Celsius.
According to Meteorological statistics Daltonganj and Deoghar recorded a maximum temperature of 43.8 degree Celsius while Garhwa, Ramgarh, Simdega and several other places recorded close to 42 degree Celsius during the past 24 – hours.
