Jamshedpur, June 6: Several parts of north-eastern Jharkhand would experience heat wave today, said a bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The vulnerable districts include Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur and Sahibganj.
Godda had topped the Celsius chart of the state yesterday with the mercury soaring to as high as 43.4 degree Celsius. Deoghar had recorded 42.5 degrees Celsius.
Daltonganj and Jamshedpur on Monday recorded over 41 degrees Celsius.
Satellite pictures suggested that a trough was running from east Bihar to Telangana across Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha at 0.9 Km above the mean sea level.
The trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level was running roughly along Long. 80°E and to the north of Lat. 22°N.
In the past 24- hours light rain was reported from Ranchi and Gudri in neighbouring West Singhbhum.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre has extended the heat wave alert in the state till June 9.
Regarding the south-west monsoon weathermen said this year it is expected to get delayed as the monsoon was yet to reach the Kerala coast.
Monsoon has already missed the deadline of June 4 when it was supposed to hit the Kerala coast.
