Jamshedpur, Oct 4: The low pressure which originated from the Bay of Bengal is expected to trigger heavy rainfall in as many as nine districts of Jharkhand today.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast in this connection today.
Weathermen said the low-pressure area over southwest Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh was lying over southern Jharkhand and its neighbourhood and the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 mm above mean sea level is tilting southwards.
According to the forecast, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Dumka, Pakur, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharsawan, East and West-Singhbhum districts of the state.
Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely to occur at isolated places over the state on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, Light to moderate rain was observed at most places during the past 24 hours while heavy rain was also recorded at isolated places over south-eastern and north-western parts of the state.
According to weathermen, monsoon activity was vigorous over the state during the past 24 hours.
