Jamshedpur, July 3: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of heavy rain in various isolated areas of the Santhal Pargana region in the next 24 hours.
According to the weatherman, the districts which are likely to experience heavy showers include Godda, Dumka, Pakur and Sahibganj.
“The monsoon is active in the Santhal Pargana region of the state while it has become weak in other parts. We are expecting a good shower show particularly in Santhal Pargana regions in the next 24 to 48 hours, ” said a duty officer at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected at a few isolated places in the next 48 hours.
Meteorological statistics reveal that the state’s rain deficit has come down to 43%. Against a normal of 197 mm of rain, the state has so far after the onset of monsoon received 112 mm of rain resulting in a 43% deficit.
Except for Sahibganj and Simdega, all the other 22 districts were facing deficit rainfall.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.
Thus, it has covered the entire country on July 2, against the normal date of July 8 (six days before the normal date of covering entire India).
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Dausa, Gwalior, Sidhi, Ambikapur, Balasore and thence eastwards to Northwest Bay of Bengal.
