Jamshedpur, Oct 5: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of heavy rain in four districts – Dumka, Pakur, Godda and Sahibganj today.
The low-pressure area over southeast Jharkhand and the neighbourhood now lies over western parts of Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level tilting southwards with height.
The trough now runs from Sikkim to south Chhattisgarh across the Low-Pressure area over western parts of Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and Odisha extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain was observed in most places; while heavy was also recorded at isolated places over the state during the past 24 hours.
Monsoon activity was vigorous over the state during the past 24 hours. Three districts of Kolhan region witnessed widespread and heavy rain in the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall recorded was 104 mm at Mosabani (East SInghbhum).
Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely to occur at isolated places over the state today, said weathermen.
