Jamshedpur, July 29:  Several isolated pockets of north- western Jharkhand are likely to experience heavy rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

The Met centre also issued an alert of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places over Jharkhand today.

An alert of heavy rain was also issued for isolated places across Jharkhand during the next three days.

The low-pressure area over North Odisha and neighbourhood has become weak.

However, a  cyclonic circulation now lies over north Odisha and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand extending

upto 5.8 Km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar,

Narnaul, Gwalior, Sidhi, Ambikapur, Jharsuguda, Chandbali and thence

southeastwards to East-central Bay of Bengal and extending upto 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Meanwhile, subdued rainfall activity during the past few days has pushed the state’s rain deficit figure to 49 %.

Met statistics suggested that against a normal rainfall of 478 mm, the state as a whole has so far received 245 mm of rain.
