Jamshedpur, Sept 3: Several isolated areas in northern and central Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
According to weathermen, Ranchi will witness a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain.
“The intensity of rain is likely to be more in northern Jharkhand today, ” said a duty officer at Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Met data suggested that several places in northeastern parts of Jharkhand experienced heavy showers during the past 24 hours.
Jamshedpur and its adjoining rural areas also experienced a good spell of rain last evening.
The rain was accompanied by moderate thunder and lightning.
Today’s satellite pictures suggested patches of clouds over several districts.
According to rain data, Jharkhand has actually received 606 mm of rain so far in this monsoon season against normal rainfall of 815.6 mm, a deficit of 26 per cent.
Head of Ranchi Met Centre, Abhishek Anand said that the deficit figure is expected to come down further as they were expecting a good spell of rain over Jharkhand later this month.
