Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has directed the Ranchi Municipal Corporation to remove all illegal occupants from government flats built for the urban poor in Madhukam Khadgarha and Rugdigadha on Ratu Road within one week. The court issued the order while hearing a suo motu case regarding encroachments on these housing units.
Court Expresses Strong Displeasure
A bench led by Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan expressed sharp dissatisfaction over the illegal occupation of the flats meant for the underprivileged. The court observed that such encroachments could not have occurred overnight and must have been continuing for a long time. It questioned why the government machinery remained silent and failed to act promptly to stop the illegal occupation.
Next Hearing Scheduled
The court has set the next hearing for the following Tuesday. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation has been instructed to submit a detailed response to the court by the next date, outlining the steps taken to clear the illegal encroachments.
