WhatsApp has become an important part of social networking. If you have ever noticed, WhatsApp has never promoted or marketed its application, yet it is such an application that is most downloaded. It has made as much progress in such a short time and any company has didn’t. This app has more than 100 crores, active users, in a month and no ads are shown while using it, which makes it even easier to use.
History of WhatsApp :
WhatsApp was started by “Brian Acton” and “Jan Koum” in the year 2009, both of whom had previously worked together in Yahoo. After leaving the job, Brian Acton and Jan Koum both went on a walk and applied for a job at Facebook, where they were rejected.
In January 2009, Koum bought an iPhone, and after some time he realized that the use of the application would increase greatly in the coming times, then Koum thought of creating an application that would allow mobile users to communicate better and share with their friends.
Helpful in connecting with family and business contacts. Koum managed to enlist five partners from yahoo, collaborating with Brian Acton, then found a Russian developer named “Igor Solomennikov” with the help of his Russian friend Alex Fishman. After this he created an application, Jan Koum named this application WhatsApp after the word “what’s up” which is used daily.
This was a great start for WhatsApp, although, after several setbacks, Koum thought the application would not work and that he should give up the idea of ??building it, Brian encouraged Koum and asked to try again. Kaum again started work on this application and they made some changes in this application like when any application user changes his status then every contact of that user will get a notification about it. Then in October 2009, Brian invested in it and officially joined.
As of February 2013, WhatsApp was used by 200 million people and only 50 employees worked at that time, soon after, the app was bought by Facebook for $19 billion and it was the biggest deal in the world at that time. According to the company’s blog, WhatsApp logs over 100 million voice calls daily.
History of WhatsApp Logo :
The logo was designed by Koum and Acton at the beginning of the development and launch of the WhatsApp app.
One interesting thing is that WhatsApp is an app that was designed for the latest mobile phones, if you look carefully at the logo of the app, the inside part of it is an old, landline phone. Unlike smartphones which have hundreds of functions, the sole purpose of landline phones is to make calls. The landline phone in the WhatsApp logo communicates the app’s function more effectively.
We will know the next journey of WhatsApp in the next post…
