Ranchi, July 18: The Astroturf Hockey Stadium situated at St Ignatius High School in Gumla will soon be revamped as it is currently in a poor condition, the officials from Hockey Jharkhand informed while inspecting the stadium on Sunday.
The president of Hockey Jharkhand Bholanath Singh said that the condition of the stadium has deteriorated and will be renovated soon. He added that it will be converted like the hockey stadiums in Simdega and Khunti as the board is paying special attention to promoting hockey in Gumla.
Meanwhile, the officials of Hockey Jharkhand, after talking to the officials of Hockey Gumla including the director and coach of the residential hockey training centre St Ignatius High School, became aware of their requirements.
The officials from Hockey Jharkhand also met Gumla’s Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav to discuss the development of hockey in Gumla.
Hockey Jharkhand President Bholanath Singh praised the work done by the deputy commissioner towards the development of sports in Simdega and for organizing two national hockey tournaments in Simdega. He added that under his leadership, Hockey Jharkhand wants to make Gumla a hub for hockey.
The DC said that the district administration has full cooperation in the development of all sports including hockey and is ready to provide every facility to the players.
