Hong Kong, Jan 5: Hong Kong on Wednesday, announced a two-week ban on incoming flights from eight countries, including India following a surge in the Omicron cases.
“Passenger flights from these countries will not be allowed to land in Hong Kong and individuals who have stayed in those countries are not allowed to board flights to Hong Kong, including transit flights,” chief executive Carrie Lam told reporters, adding the ban applies to Australia, Canada, France, and India, Pakistan, Philippines, UK and US.
According to the Hong Kong special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government flights from eight countries will be banned from January 8 for 14 days.
Earlier on Tuesday, Hong Kong reported 39 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, taking the total tally yo 12,761.
