New Delhi, Dec 27: India’s states and union territories held mock Covid-19 drills on Tuesday to get ready for the increasing number of cases that are being reported both domestically and internationally. In addition, mock exercises were held in hospitals in a number of Indian cities, including Noida, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, India saw an increase of 157 new cases of Covid-19 in a single day, while the total number of active cases fell to 3,421.
“To make sure there isn’t Covid surge in the country, PM Modi has asked us to be careful. The government is also preparing in case covid cases increase. Today, mock drills are conducted across Covid hospitals in the country to make sure people get proper treatment,” talking about the drills, the union health minister said.
In order to review the Covid mock drill, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also went to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
Ma Subramanian, the health minister for Tamil Nadu, visited the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai to see the Tuesday Covid mock drill.
