Ranchi, Nov 14: A total of 82 colleges in India are offering 11,000 seats for students to pursue a career in Hotel Management. The students require to write the national level entrance test – National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology joint entrance Examination.
In India, there are a total of 22 Government Central University IHM, 28 state IHM, 1 PSU IHM, and 31 private IHM. The SIHM in Ranchi has a total of 127 seats.
Eligibility
Students who are appearing for the class 12 exam or have already passed can apply for the HM entrance test. They should have English as one of the languages.
Exam Pattern
The three-hour computer test can be given in Hindi or English. The test is divided into five sections – English Language, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Apart from the English paper, every other section can be attempted in Hindi and English as well.
The 2023 Exam will have a total of 200 questions. Every right question carries four marks whereas every wrong answer will deduct one mark.
Age Criteria
The upper age limit for General and OBC candidates is 25 whereas the upper age limit for ST/SC candidates is 28. Students who have passed the class 12 exam can appear for the entrance test.

The All India Management Association conducts the Undergraduate Aptitude Test through which candidates can apply for the course at SRM Institute of Hotel Management-Chennai, Goa University, National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Management-Hyderabad, Vidya Jyoti Institute-Raipur, Salgaonkar Institute of International Hospitality Education and Goa College of Hospitality and Culinary.

A candidate can also get admission to HM colleges across India by giving the International Institute of Hotel Management electronic Hospitality entrance exam.
There is a wide working area for students who graduate after doing a course in hotel management. They can work for public relations, food and beverages, housekeeping, accounting, marketing, recreation, computer application, financial management, engineering, fire fighting, maintenance and security.
