Jamshedpur, Jan 1: The New Year has brought good news for passengers heading for Chhattisgarh.
The South Eastern Railway ( SER ) has decided to restore the running of Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleshwari Express (18005 / 18006 ) via Sambalpur from January 3.
The Howrah-Jagdalpur Express will leave Howrah every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 10.20 pm and will reach Jagdalpur at 10.05 pm, the next day.
In the opposite direction, the 18006 Jagdalpur-Howrah Express will leave Jagdalpur every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 5.05 am and will arrive Howrah at 5.15 am, the next day.
The Up train will reach Tatanagar at 2.25 am while the return train will reach Tatanagar at 1.05 am.
The train will have one First AC, one AC 2-Tier, two AC 3-Tier, six sleeper classes and two general second class coaches and will have stoppages at Uluberia, Bagnan, Mecheda, Panskura, Kharagpur, Jhargram, Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Manoharpur, Rourkela, Rajgangpur, Bamra and Jharsuguda.
The return train (18006) will not stop at Mecheda but will stop at Santragachi.
Station director H K Balmuchu said the train operation was suspended in April this year during Covid’s second wave.
The Chhotanagpur Passenger Association and various other passenger bodies welcomed the railway division.
