Hyderabad, Dec 3: A professor at the University of Hyderabad was arrested by the Cyberabad Police after he was accused of abusing a Thai exchange student.
Police claim that the incident took place on Friday when the female student was invited to the professor’s home under the pretence of gifting her a book, but instead the accused allegedly made advances toward sexually harassing her.
The professor was arrested by Cyberabad Police following the filing of the complaint.
“The incident took place yesterday. The victim is a student at HCU. She was taken to the professor’s home on the pretext of giving her a book and then there he tried to molest her. She was found crying by her friends and she revealed some facts. We have taken the complaint and the accused in custody. We will take remand of him. The student is a foreigner from Thailand,” said K Shilpavalli, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Madhapur.
Further probe into the matter is underway.
