Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a software engineer in Hyderabad was gang-raped by her childhood friend and his accomplice while celebrating her new job. The horrific crime occurred at a hotel in Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad, while another married woman was sexually assaulted by a bus driver in a separate incident in Telangana.

The software engineer, who had recently secured a job, joined her childhood friend, Gautham Reddy, and another mutual friend to celebrate at a bar in Vanasthalipuram on Monday evening. According to Vanasthalipuram Police Inspector D Jalender Reddy, the group visited a bar and restaurant attached to a hotel. After getting drunk, Reddy and his friend took the victim to a hotel room and gang-raped her. “The girl and Reddy studied together from Class 2 to Class 10,” the inspector added.

In another distressing case, a married woman traveling from Nirmal to Prakasam district in a private bus was sexually assaulted by the bus driver. The woman reported that the driver, Krishna, stuffed a cloth in her mouth and assaulted her in the early hours of Tuesday. Upon learning that the woman had complained to the police, Krishna fled the scene. Osmania Police Inspector Rajender stated, “We intercepted the bus near Tarnaka when it was entering Hyderabad city and took the other driver of the bus, Seshaiah, into custody. He is being questioned.”

Both incidents have sparked outrage and raised concerns about the safety of women in Telangana. Authorities are investigating the cases, and the search for the absconding bus driver is ongoing.
