Ranchi, April 27: The ICFAI University on Wednesday celebrated World Intellectual Property Day. University Assistant Professor Dr Samir Pandey received the award for a patent on “A System for Block Chain-Based High-Performance Tamper-Proof Database Construction and Method” by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Addressing the participants, Prof O R S Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the University said, “In the present times, Intellectual Property is fast emerging as the most valuable asset, which can help in improving our lives. This year, in line with current trends, the theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2022 is Intellectual Property and Innovation for a better future for the youth.” said Prof. Rao
Further congratulating Dr Sameer Pandey on his achievement, Prof Rao said, “Our university is encouraging and facilitating our students and faculty members to file patents by taking advantage of emerging technologies. We are delighted that Dr Samir Pandey’s patent application is based on blockchain technology to make databases more secure. It focuses on leverage, which is the need of the hour.
Elaborating on the background of his patent application filed jointly with a team of researchers, Dr Sameer Pandey said, “For the first time in the world, we are working on a blockchain with fuzzy logic based mathematical models to enhance security and integrity. This will ensure wider adoption of the digital world and make it safer.”
Dr Pandey further said, “The cutting edge technologies like Blockchain and AI offer ample possibilities to come up with innovative solutions to the problems.”
Honouring Dr Sameer Pandey, Registrar of the University, Professor Arvind Kumar said, “A few weeks back, our University organised a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights in association with Patent Office, Kolkata to create awareness on Patents and Copyrights. Dr Sameer Pandey can be a role model for other faculty members and students in filing patent applications using innovative ideas.”
