Jamshedpur, July 18: Steel City Jamshedpur and in fact Kolhan had reasons to rejoice with students coming out with flying colours in this year’s ICSE examination conducted by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination ( CISCE ), the results of which were declared on Sunday.
It was a matter of great pride for Kolhan as Ved Raj of St Xavier English School, Chaibasa, became the second national topper and Jharkhand state topper in ICSE 10th Board exams by scoring 498 out of 500. He scored 99.60 per cent marks in all.
Ved Raj is currently preparing for IIT-JEE from Deoghar-based Ramkrishna Mission Vidyapith.
His father Rajkumar Agarwal, a PWD clerk based in Chaibasa was elated. “With such a good performance our son has made us proud. The credit for his success also goes to his teachers,” he said.
Ved Raj scored 100 in Mathematics, Social Science and Computer Science and scored 99 each in English, Hindi and Science.
Students of Hill Top School at Telco in Jamshedpur also proved their mettle in the ICSE Class X examination.
The leading ICSE cradle achieved cent percent result in the Class X examination of which 77 students scored 90 per cent and above marks. All 33 students of the school got 95 per cent and above marks while eight students scored 98 per cent and above marks.
Sulagana Basak of Hill Top School too scored 99.6 per cent marks to bag the top-notch position in the state. She was also adjudged the second national topper.
An elated Sulagna was happy over the result and gave all credit to her teachers for this outstanding performance. She wants to pursue her career in the field of biotechnology.
Sourish Ghosh of the same school scored 98.8 per cent marks while Utkarsh Kumar got 98.4 per cent marks.
Puneeta B. Chouhan, principal of the school congratulated the students for their outstanding achievements.
Students of several other city-based schools performed well.
Manav Dalmia of Loyola School scored 99.4 per cent while Ishika Gupta of Carmel Junior College scored 99.2 per cent marks.
Shashank Choudhary of Rajendra Vidyalaya, another leading ICSE school scored 98.6 per cent while Ankesh Kumar of the same school got 98.4 per cent.
Aditya Kumar of Dayanand Public School got 98.4 per cent marks while Arnav and Rohit Verma – both from Little Flower School got 98.4 per cent.
Students of Sacred Heart Convent, DBMS English High School, Narbheram Hansraj English School and Kerala Samajam Model School also performed well in the ICSE class X examination.
