Dhanbad, Sept 9 : A three- member team of DAV Public School Koylanagar Dhanbad has innovated a salvation stick model to protect crops from locust swarms attack in the Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge contest under progress at IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad.
The team members comprising Tuhin, Samrat Bose and Ayush Arpit Nayak said that they have named their model ‘Krishi Bot’ and besides protecting crops from locust, it would also help farmers sowing, irrigation, land levelling and moisture checking in their field.
“Our project focuses on enhancing productivity, improving resources management and fostering financial inclusion of farmers,” said Tuhin, one of the team members.
Two other students, Samrat Bose and Ayush Arpit Nayak, said that they have developed an equipment to help in carrying out ploughing, carrying out seed sowing and other.
Prof Pankaj Mishra, acting dean (Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship) of IIT ISM said that besides DAV Public School Koylanagar Dhanbad, the students team of all 10 schools from across the state who participate in the grand finale of the Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge (JH-SIC 2023) developed different innovative projects with the help of IIT ISM experts.
Rajen Dasgupta ,executive officer of NVCTI said that all the participating teams have developed such models which are ready for marketing on the commercial scale and IIT ISM will extend support to them to develop it on a commercial scale.
The award ceremony of Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge contest would be held today at Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre of the institute at 3.30 p.m. Jharkhand Technical University (JTU) vice-chancellor (V-C) Dr DK Singh would be chief guest on the occasion and he would give away prizes to winners of the competition.
An IIT ISM official said the first three winners of the contest will get Rs 50000, Rs 30000 and Rs 20,000 respectively while the fourth and fifth position holders will be awarded consolation prize of Rs 10000 each .
The schools teams of the state that presented idea of their model in the competition were Savitri Devi DAV Public School, Namupara; DBMS English School, Jamshedpur; Delhi Public School, Bokaro; Hill Top School, East Singhbhum; Loyola School, East Singhbhum; DAV Public School CCL, Giridih; DAV Public School, Koylanagar; Mahendramuni Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Madhupur Deoghar; DAV Public School, CCL, NTS, Barkakana and SDSM School for Excellence, East Singhbhum .
